Queen Anne Cioppino Simmer Sauce

This classic Italian-American cooking sauce, that originated from San Francisco, will be a hit with your whole family. Our unique cioppino sauce recipe has a Pacific Northwest twist due to the unique spices and ingredients that give it an amazing taste.

Cioppino is best served with items that would make up a "catch of the day," which in Seattle is typically a combination of Dungeness crab, clams or mussels, shrimp, scallops, squid and any firm-type of fish like Cod or Halibut. For this sauce, we recommend that you use 1 lbs of seafood for this recipe.

Cooking instructions:

  • Pour out the Queen Anne Cioppino simmer sauce jar in a stock pot and simmer.
  • Add 1/2 lbs of clams/mussels first, cover the pot and simmer gently until the shells are open (typically 3-5 minutes).
  • Add 1/2 - 1 lbs of seafood for 4 servings. We recommend bay scallops, any skinless fish (Cod, Halibut, Rock fish) cut into small pieces or deveined shrimp (we like shell on shrimp for that extra fish flavor).
  • Cover and simmer until the fish are opaque and thoroughly cooked (typically 3-5 minutes).

Serve with garlic bread for dipping. Enjoy!

All Seattle Artisan Food products are created, by hand, in limited small batch quantities. This sauce is created from organic ingredients that are locally sourced, when available, in the Pacific Northwest region.
